The Best

"We're not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be" -C.S. Lewis

First, let me admit that I have not read very much C.S. Lewis (not even all of the Narnia series), and I copy and pasted this quote from a friend's Facebook post. I have nothing against C.S. Lewis. In fact, I keep thinking I should read more of his books...

Now, I'm not really sure what more I can say beyond this quote...let alone if I can fill an entire blog by reflecting on it. Suffice it to say, that these words take some of the thoughts swirling in my head and give them a voice. I know God will do His best for me... I know God has His best and most perfect plan for me... I know He is the same God today that He was for me yesterday and will be tomorrow... I know...

What I don't know is exactly how I'm going to get there...or where 'there' even is... I don't know when He will ask me to do something (maybe even something scarey), and I will have to do it afraid... I don't know who (if anyone) besides God will walk with me, push me, or carry me... I don't know the cost or the pain... And I don't know what His best will look like for me...

I agree, Mr. C.S. Lewis... I have no doubt that God will do His best... I just hope I can get out of the way, hang on, and give (no matter how much or how painful) what He calls me to so that His best will be realized in me...and all for His glory!

Some days I think that the comment "No pain, no gain" seems to be true. All of the character traits that I have grown into, and all the names I have come to know God by...are because of pain I walked thru. I think your post reminds me that God says in following HIm we must "count the cost"...it ain't cheap...and it ain't easy....and I know that ain't ain't a word:)
